How to get comfy in your genes

“I dream of having a body/hair like yours” are words I have heard and uttered so many times. And yet the reality is that you & I will never, LIKE EVER, be able to replicate someone else’s body.

  1. God created YOU with intention

When you were created there was no lack of thought that went into it. God is intentional by nature and He doesn’t make mistakes. So yes your bum or thighs or legs or nose were created on purpose…for a purpose too.

  1. The purpose

This is my opinion but hear me out. What if God making you with big thighs, a skinny waist, a rounder bum, dead straight hair or with gorgeous curls has a purpose? What if he created you this way to make you a better person? What if it wasn’t about the way you looked at all but about the lessons you would learn everyday, by looking like this. Lessons about self-acceptance, to not judge others, to embrace all of you, to (at times) know how to look beyond the physical…lessons that build character, that makes you a better person.

  1. You’re fighting a losing battle

Are you embracing that purpose, darling, or running from it? Are you learning to love beyond looks, to pride yourself in the way you look by celebrating your uniqueness? Are you on your OWN self love quest or are you still stuck in that internal war of self hate that so many of us have fought?

If you’re still very much in it, then please take this message to heart. Are you perhaps robbing from the girl who God designed would grow in character, who’d accept others with grace and who’d walk with confidence despite herself? That girl is YOU, and will be you as you accept the journey you were made for & leave the path of self hate and comparison.

  1. Where do you begin now?

Well, right now, a simple acknowledging of where you’re at is incredibly powerful in turning a corner. From here it’s a mind-game, beautiful. It’s you choosing everyday to replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations. It’s a choice, everyday, to love yourself. But you know what, it’s bigger than that – by loving yourself, you’re learning to accept the flaws in others too. You’re empowering yourself to quit comparison and to run the true race marked out for you – one of love.

You are beautiful. You are loved and you WERE made with huge intention. Walk in this truth today my love!
