Last week I had the absolute privilege of being a media guest at the iconic Brahman Hills in the Natal Midlands. What this meant is that I was invited to join other journalists from around South Africa to see and experience this hotel, wedding venue and nature reserve and then write or talk about it.

Now the invite came as a total shock…this was the first time I’ve been invited to anything THIS big as a ‘influencer’ and the idea of 2 nights way from the chaos, in a beautiful setting proved to be everything I had imagined, and more…
Brahman Hills is situated in Nottingham Road and right next to the highway (super convenient and NO you can’t hear or see the road at all). We were housed in two of the beautiful cottages on the property. The cottages are exactly 1km from reception which is total bliss as you feel far away enough from civilization to total RELAX but also close enough to pop out on the midlands meander or to the restaurants or spa at Brahman Hills.
If I could wave a magic wand and design a DREAM girls trip to the Midlands…this was would be it!!!!
Accommodation:
Book into a self-catering cottage at Brahman Hills for a night or 2. The cottage comes with a fully equipped kitchen, beautiful bedrooms (a few options for sizes of cottages), a lounge with a fireplace and a Jacuzzi – YES, a Jacuzzi at your OWN cottage.
Activities:
Spend the morning exploring the midlands meander (Piggly Wiggly is my fav spot), lunch at The Windmills Kitchen (right next door to Brahman Hills) and it has EVERYTHING in 1 setting so everyone can pick their meal and all eat and get served together.
The afternoon would be spent in the Brahman Hills Spa. This is genuinely pure BLISS!! The most gorgeous spa overlooking the midlands hills (dotted with game). We were treated to a full body massage, exfoliation and bath – INCREDIBLE. {I’d literally go back just for this}. For a group of girls – there’s a stunning set up including a row of comfy chairs for pedi’s and mani’s whilst you sip champers.
Brahman Hills property is enormous and as guests, you are totally free to wonder around the property, or nature trails. There is beautiful 8km loop of the nature reserve where one can take in gorgeous views as well as walk alongside zebras, buck and many a Brahman cow.
Meals:
Being self-catering, I love that you don’t have to spend a fortune and could spend an evening in – fire lit, wine in hand, perhaps a jacuzzi session while a lasagna cooks in the oven.
Then…dinner at 89 on Copper on is an absolute MUST! We were treated to the most remarkable meal I am yet to have eaten. A 7-course dinner paired with delicious wines. The food is world-class, service amazing and the setting, being in a cellar (but well-lit one, you know I’m all for light spaces) is gorgeous.

Okay enough of the idilic talk, I’m stuck at my desk and all of this day-dreaming is getting me anxious to perhaps a plan a mums trip of my own…. WATCH THIS SPACE.
